Downshire Church is friendly, relaxed and informal. Most of us dress casually. We chat a lot. We laugh out loud. We enjoy worshipping God together. We try to help and encourage one another in following and obeying Jesus.

SEEING GOD’S LOVE
We exist as a community of disciples to show everyone God’s love. We believe that an encounter with Jesus, even a glimpse, will bring radical transformation (Luke 8:44). We are not an ember hiding in the wind, but a beacon of light, defiant against the darkness (Philippians 2:15).
Our desire is that through our services, our ministries, and our everyday ordinary lives, people who are broken by sin and shame might see Jesus and His love and find the healing, purpose and life only He can bring. A life that is anything but ordinary (John 10:10).
Therefore as existing disciples and new followers find grace, mercy and peace, (2 John 1:3), our identity is one that aches (Galatians 4:19) for people to see God’s love and embark upon the greatest journey that there ever was – that they might find life and glory (Luke 9:24).

KNOWING GOD’S LOVE
Seeing to showing doesn’t just happen. Equipped disciples are not just created, they are forged - forged in prayer and the Word. Discipleship is the catalyst for all we do in Downshire. It is the deepening of the soil, the strengthening of the soul.
We long to be a community of Biblical-explorers, relentlessly asking the Holy Spirit to open up the Word to us that our lives might be consumed with His grace and peace (2 Peter 1:2).
Knowing God’s love, diving into God’s Word, praying without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17), are the driving force that lead us in our journey from seeing God’s love to serving Him in our everyday normal lives.

SHOWING GOD’S LOVE
Our Sunday services last for an hour, our home groups a little longer – a fraction of the diverse weeks we move through. We rebel against the idea that Jesus is a small compartment in a busy and full life – Jesus is everything, Jesus is life.
Therefore we long to be a church that equips worshipful, prayerful, pioneering disciples and releases them into their everyday lives (Mark 16:20). Lives that consist of schools and bakeries, engineering firms and offices in the city, the frantic drop off of kids at school and being a friend during a crisis – life.
We long to be a community of sent disciples who are courageously Biblical. ‘Jesus-Pioneers’ in a world that is decaying, and in turn allowing other people to ‘see God’s love’ through our frontline lives.
We also know that some might be called to go beyond the confines of our local community and go to the furthest reaches of the globe. Our vision is that Downshire is a place that equips disciples wherever God might send them.

What to Expect at Downshire.
We are a gathering of ordinary people, some of whom have found faith and others who are on the journey. We love to see new faces. Everyone is welcome, no matter what their beliefs, background or baggage.
Our Vision
We believe that we have been led to view our fellowship as chiefly a missional community, whose aim is to serve and reach those who have yet to come to faith and to be part of God’s ongoing work of renewing and recreating his world.

Our morning service caters for all the family. During our morning service we offer programmes to cater to the whole family, from the youngest to the oldest of us all.
